Fibreglass Pool
Resurfacing Gold Coast

Many Gold Coast fibreglass pools are now 10 to 20 years old, and the gelcoat shows it: faded colour, a chalky feel and sometimes blisters. We repair it and recoat it with LuxaPool epoxy so it looks and feels new again.

Does Your Fibreglass Pool Need It?

  • The colour has faded or gone patchy
  • The surface feels chalky or rough
  • Small bumps or blisters, often with a dark centre
  • Stains that won't brush or clean off
  • Hairline gelcoat cracks around steps and corners

Fibreglass Pool
FAQs.

Can you paint a fibreglass pool?

Yes. Once the gelcoat is cleaned, sanded and primed with a fibreglass primer, LuxaPool two-pack epoxy bonds well and gives a smooth, glossy finish that lasts years. Skipping the primer or sanding is why some fibreglass repaints peel.

What are the blisters in my fibreglass pool?

Small bumps or blisters, often with a dark spot, are usually osmosis: water getting behind the gelcoat. We grind out the open blisters, let them dry, fill them and then coat over the top. If you want, we can treat every blister, not just the open ones, and the price shows both options.

Is it cheaper to resurface a fibreglass pool than a concrete one?

Usually a little, as fibreglass needs less prep than an old concrete shell. Osmosis repairs are the main thing that adds to the price, and the online quote form asks about them so your price includes them.

How long does a fibreglass pool resurface last?

With correct prep and primer, a 2-coat LuxaPool epoxy finish lasts about 6 to 8 years and a 3-coat system about 8 to 10 years.

Why has my fibreglass pool gone chalky and faded?

Queensland sun and pool chemicals break down the gelcoat over the years, so it turns powdery and loses its colour. Painting with epoxy restores the colour and seals the surface again.
